For readers in Brussels and Belgium, if you head to the Esplanade of the European Parliament tomorrow afternoon (12-2:30pm) you will be greeted with a free vegan lunch!
I am happy to tell you that The Free Lunch event aims to encourage people to eat more plant-based food and move away from animal products. Not only is the production of meat, dairy and eggs cruel and totally unnecessary, these ‘foods’ have a detrimental impact on consumers’ health and also on the environment.
There will be delicious free vegan food available for Members of the European Parliament, EU officials, and members of the public in order to highlight the animal welfare, environmental and health concerns linked to the overconsumption of animal-based foods.
Not only will the meals be super tasty, they will consist of locally-grown produce, free from pesticides, additives and GMOs. Plus, there will be double the initial amount of food with plans to donate meals to the refugee camp at Gare du Nord, Maximilian Parc, as the teams work with Collectactif.
Please go and support this fantastic initiative. It’s time that that the ‘powers that be’ stop ignoring the elephant in the room and work to not only educate citizens on the benefits of plant-based eating, but to introduce an EU target to reduce animal source foods and recognise the negative impact that animal agriculture has on the planet.
We can make a difference.
